Space

Space is a virtual area you create. It can contain a different number of rooms.

You can group different Spaces into a Team. Where only authorized Members and Guests can access.

When you enter a room in SpatialChat, you will only see a small portion of the space. You can adjust the scale of the screen by clicking on the button in the bottom right corner and selecting the desired option. Alternatively, you can use your device's scroll wheel or tap the screen to zoom in or out. This can help you get a better view of the room and its occupants.

Raum

A room is a specific area within a larger space. In SpatialChat, you can have multiple rooms within a single space, depending on your plan. There are different types of rooms available, such as Breakout, Stage and Workplace. You can learn more about the specific features and uses of these different room types in a separate article. In this discussion, we will focus mainly on Breakout rooms.

How to move between rooms

Bewegen im Raum

To move around the room in SpatialChat, simply click on your avatar (represented by a circle) and drag it to the desired location. As you navigate through the space, your background will move with you, even if the screen is zoomed in to the maximum level (250%). This means you won't have to search for yourself around the edges of the screen. Just click and drag to explore the room and interact with others.

Kreis/Blase

In SpatialChat, your avatar is represented by a circle or bubble. If your camera is turned on, this circle will display your video stream. If your camera is turned off, the circle will show your profile picture if you have uploaded one, or the first letter of your name if you have not. This circle or bubble indicates your position within the virtual space, allowing you to interact with others and navigate the room.

Teilen

In SpatialChat, users have the ability to share a variety of content with others in the room, including images, gifs, videos, text and links, iframes, whiteboards, and Google Docs documents. Additionally, users can share their screen if there are no restrictions in place. Any content that is shared by a user will disappear when that user leaves the room, whether by moving to a different room or closing the browser tab. However, you can choose to "pin" your shared content, which will cause it to remain in the room even after you leave. For more information about sharing content in SpatialChat, you can refer to a separate article.

Pen on map

In SpatialChat, you also have the option to engage in freehand drawing anywhere in the background. To do so, simply click on the pen icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen, select a color from the palette, and start drawing. This can be a fun and creative way to express yourself and interact with others in the virtual space.

Chat

If you want to communicate with others in the room, you can use the chat feature in SpatialChat. To access the chat, click on the chat button on the screen. From there, you can send emojis, text messages, or direct messages to other users. You can also include links in your chat messages if you wish. This feature allows you to easily connect and communicate with others in the virtual space.

The Megaphone

In SpatialChat, the volume at which you and other users can hear each other is dynamic, meaning it changes based on the distance between your avatars. This is intended to mimic the way sound behaves in a physical space.

However, there may be times when you need to be heard equally well by everyone in the room. In these cases, you can use the Megaphone feature. When you activate the megaphone, your voice will be amplified so that it can be heard clearly by everyone in the room, regardless of their distance from you. This can be useful for making announcements or leading group discussions.
